WHAT is Right to Play?

Right To Play is an international non-profit organisation that empowers vulnerable children to overcome the effects of war, poverty, and disease around the world through play.

Founded in 2000 by Johann Olav Koss, Right To Play works with schools and community-based organisations, training teachers and coaches in its innovative play-based learning methodology and holding play days and sports tournaments geared towards building children's life skills using all forms of play - games, sport, poetry, performance, dance, art and music.

However, it does more than just that. It saves lives. Play keeps children in school and out of work. It teaches them how to prevent life-threatening diseases like HIV and malaria and keep them safe from exploitation and abuse. It gives girls the power to say no to unwanted sex, and make healthy decisions about their bodies and their futures.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the organisation transforms the lives of 2.3 million children each year by providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to drive change in their lives, their families and their communities in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
